My friends and I set out for sunrise in Saxon Switzerland, and we decided to climb under the rock on which stood the castle more than seven hundred years ago, which served to guard the safety of the merchant road from Upper Lusatia to the Tolstejn estate, before the castle was seized by robbers. You can get to Frienstein Castle itself only with a rope and protection like climbers. Our path led first along the plain, then up to the long stairs, then over the ruined rock blocks, and finally we went around the rock with a nice air traverse to the footpath behind the rock. At its end is a rock plateau, from which is a wonderful view of the northeastern part of Saxon Switzerland. In the end, my lungs caught up with me and I could enjoy this beautiful view in peace.
