LEGENDS ABOUT JACKDAW STONE

A distinctive and characteristic landmark, which stands on a phonolite rock about 2 km south of Jiřetín pod Jedlovou, is the best-preserved castle ruins in the Lusatian Mountains. It is Tolštejn Castle. It was built in the 13th century and it is bind to this place a lot of legends. These are classic legends about a white lady, robbers or treasures, but we also find lesser-known mentions. For example, legends about Vlach men looking for precious stones in the area, or about a secret corridor that allegedly led from the castle to a cave in the Míšeňský mine.
